How
Mediation Works
|
|
- At
the first meeting the individuals involved in the
dispute explain their sides and their understandings
of the disagreement.
|
| |
- Parties
are heard and have their points of view acknowledged. At subsequent meetings:
|
|
| |
- The
mediator helps them examine their situation in terms
of their interests and needs.
|
|
| |
- The
parties gather relevant information, and discuss possible
solutions.
|
|
| |
- The
mediator assists the parties in developing a mutually
acceptable agreement.
|
|
| |
- The
agreement is put in writing and reviewed by each of
the parties legal counsel prior to signing.
|
|
| |
- The
individuals involved in the dispute sign and each
receive copies of the binding agreement, which is
then incorporated into the judgment through appropriate
legal procedure.
